Client of the week – Twilo
Posted by ekgraphics in Client of the week on March 26, 2010
This week its all about : Twilo
Encapsulating the spirit and ethos of the original legendary club twilo brings things back to basics where its all about the music solely.
Twilo was the most beloved and, its critics say, most played-out nightclub to grace the streets of New York City since the seminal Studio 54.
Playing host to dozens of legendary DJs from around the world, the club was instrumental in popularizing international styles of house andtrance music within the United States.
Twilo regularly featured prominent American and European DJs playing trance, techno, and house music. Sasha and John Digweed had a monthly residency at the club, playing the last Friday of every month. Early in 2001 after Sasha suffered an ear injury in a car accident and was unable to DJ, John Digweed would play the entire 8 hour time slot by himself. Other DJs would play frequently such as Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox, Robert Fauver, Richie Hawtin, Danny Tenaglia, Merritt, Jeff Mills, DJ Dan, and Sven Väth. Many of these artists made appearances at Twilo before hitting the mainstream.
Twilo London goes back to basics and houses, keeping Chicago’s “underground” club
scene alive. The DJs on the night use everything from used analog synthesizers
and sequencers to create and arrange the electronic elements and samples on
their tracks, combining live traditional instruments and percussion and soulful
vocals with pre-programmed electronic synthesizers and “beat-boxes”, to modern
CDJ turntables and Ableton Live technology to bring about a unique sound not
being played in other UK clubs. Twilo c commemorates the
legendary NY club and encapsulates New York, Chicago and Detroit’s truely
cosmopolitan feel with a distinct attitude and vibe of the underground.
Twilo’s next event is tonight so get yourself down to Pacha London : exclusive resident & guests DJs from around the UK in support Twilo March is certain to be rocking and one to pin in the diary as not to be missed.
